The Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center (CLAGS) is looking for volunteers for our events. The volunteer will represent CLAGS to the public who attend our events.
Location
The volunteers will be called upon on an as needed basis and will work with CLAGS staff, board and interns on staffing events. These events are located primarily at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY, but are also located in areas around Manhattan.
Key Responsibilities
The volunteers assist with administrative duties such as:
- Preparation for events, making calls, mailing, scanning, invitations and other relevant information.
- Greets guests at the events and support CLAGS staff with tasks as needed.
- Answers questions about CLAGS or direct individuals to the proper staff person.
- Makes reminder phone calls or emails to other volunteers who are assigned projects for the following day or event.
- Helps prepare bulk mailings.
- Prepares correspondence as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Reports to: CLAGS Director and Staff
Time Commitment: One day per week or on an as needed basis.
Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Pleasant manner, patience,
problem-solving ability, dependability.
Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the CLAGS Director and
staff will be available for questions and assistance.
Age Requirement: None
Dress Code: Business Casual/Casual
