Miguel Ángel Roig-Francolí has been awarded the 2009 Composer’s Commission

Roig-Francolí’s compositions have been widely performed in Spain, England, Germany, Mexico, and the United States. He has received commissions from the National Orchestra and Chorus of Spain, the Spanish National Radio, and the Fundación Juan March. His compositions are published by EMEC, Piles, and Fundación Juan March (Madrid). Among his many honors are first prize at the National Composition Competition of the Spanish Jeunesses Musicales (1981) and second prize at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers (Paris, 1982), both for Five Pieces for Orchestra; and the University of Cincinnati’s A.B. "Dolly" Cohen Award for Excellence in Teaching (2007).

The 2006 Higini Anglès Dissertation Award was granted to Mauricio Molina for his "Frame Drums in the Medieval Iberian Peninsula."  The study will be published by Reichenberger Musik. The publication has partly been funded by the Foudation for Iberian Music.
