Audiology Ranked Among Seven Great Careers for 2007.

Career in Audiology Ranked as Excellent by U.S. News and World Report.

Employment outlook
Employment of audiologists is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2014. Because hearing loss is strongly associated with aging, rapid growth in the population age 55 and older will cause the number of persons with hearing impairment to increase markedly (Excerpted from:
http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos085.htm#outlook).

Program Goals

The Specific goals of the CUNY Au.D. program are to:

  a. Prepare audiologists to meet the hearing and vestibular health-care  needs of the culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse population of the greater New York City metropolitan area.
  b. Prepare audiologists to serve as advocates for persons with hearing and/or vestibular impairment.
  c. Prepare audiologists through a full-time intensive clinical doctoral program for autonomous practice for delivery of exceptional hearing and vestibular health care. Through their academic and clinical preparation in the Au.D. program of CUNY, these professionals will provide comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services for individuals, from neonates to seniors, who have auditory and/or vestibular impairment.
  d. Educate audiologists to be active contributors to the clinical science that subserves audiology and encourage them through experiences in the educational program to commit to the continuing development of the profession.
