I was born in a town (Barletta) on the Southeastern coast of Italy, which I left to pursue my studies at the University of Bologna, where I received my "laurea" in Italian Literature with a dissertation on the contemporary novelist Carlo Emilio Gadda (director: Ezio Raimondi, co-director: Guido Guglielmi.)
Once graduated, I was given the opportunity to work as an editor at the publishing house "il Mulino" (Bologna), a job I quit after some years to study in New York under the guidance of the late American italianist Robert S. Dombroski. I am now a Ph.D. candidate, currently working on a dissertation on the modern novel under the guidance of Professor Hermann W. Haller.
During these years in New York, beyond publishing some articles and working as a translator, I have taught Italian at the Department of European Languages & Literatures of Queens College as an adjunct lecturer and, during the academic year 2004-2005, as a full-time lecturer. Since the last academic year, I have been working on the same campus as a CUNY Writing Fellow.
