: APPLIED ECONOMETRICS
 


Econometrics is the study of how statistical and mathematical techniques are applied to economic data. Econometric techniques are used widely in policy making, and they are also applied to other social sciences besides economics. An understanding of econometrics and the ability to use its techniques are essential for the modern economist. Some of the specific areas studied are:

  • Estimation of the relationship between economic variables
  • Testing of economic theory
  • Construction of economic models
  • Economic forecasting
