New York City is the prime location for the study of cinema in the United States. Many of the world's most important film study centers, archives, and libraries--notably those at the Museum of Modern Art, the Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, the Museum of Television and Radio, and Anthology Film Archives -- are located here. In addition, you'll find the offices of Cineaste, billed as "America's leading magazine on the art and politics of the cinema."

The city is also home to the widest range of commercial and noncommercial exhibition venues in the United States, such as the Lincoln Center Film Society, which lists what's playing at the Walter Reade Theatre, and Film Forum.
