Lebanese Poetry Night at the Graduate Center
On September 17, 2003, French-Lebanese poet and writer
Venus Khoury-Ghata, author of a dozen collections of poems
and as many novels, and recipient of numerous awards
including the Prix Mallarmé (1987) and the Prix Apollinaire
(1980), celebrated with us the recent publication of She
Says (Graywolf Press), a new bilingual collection of poems
translated by our Department’s new faculty member Marilyn
Hacker. It was a joy to listen to both author and
translator, as they kept alternating their readings, in
either French or English.
