The

French Interdisciplinary Group for

Seventeenth-Century Studies

The French Interdisciplinary Group for Seventeenth-Century Studies is a discussion Group at the C.U.N.Y. Graduate Center that invites students and faculty from all departments to share interests, ideas, and information about the French seventeenth century. Our primary purpose is to foster an intellectual and social community of scholars that encourages interaction across disciplines.

Events: The group’s bi-monthly meetings feature panels made up of Graduate Center students, faculty, and/or guest speakers addressing various aspects of the French seventeenth century, including art, drama, literature, medicine, music, philosophy, politics, scientific thought, and social life. Papers may be given in French or in English.

Each event also has a social component since it offers an opportunity for those working in various disciplines to network and consider working together in the future.

Membership: Membership is open to all Graduate Center students, and we welcome the participation of all C.U.N.Y. students and faculty as well as those from other institutions.
