Description:
The Ph.D. Program in Sociology at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York invites applications for a senior sociologist of distinction specializing in the Sociology of Religion. We seek an internationally recognized scholar whose work is comparative and/or international in scope and speaks to issues of concern to broad publics both inside and outside the academy.
The Graduate Center, which is the Ph.D.-granting institution of CUNY, is devoted to advancing original research and training graduate students in over 30 fields in the humanities, social sciences and sciences. This position is part of one of The Graduate Center’s three multi-disciplinary initiatives in the Study of Religion, Science Studies, and Globalization and Social Change. We expect that during the next three years this initiative will result in the hiring of six scholars (in both the humanities and social sciences) doing groundbreaking interdisciplinary work in the Study of Religion.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. required. The tenured appointment will be made at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. A particularly strong candidate may be nominated as a Distinguished Professor. The successful candidate must have demonstrated interdisciplinary interests and a proven ability to work collaboratively.
Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
