Description:

The Ph.D. Program in Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at The Graduate Center of the City University of New York invites applications for a senior speech scientist specializing in any area of basic or applied speech perception or production research focusing on infants, children, or adults. An interest in collaborative mentoring of students in language or hearing science and in faculty research collaborations is desirable. Responsibilities include establishing a state-of-the-art laboratory at The Graduate Center, teaching doctoral courses, and supervising doctoral research.

The Graduate Center, which is the Ph.D.-granting institution of CUNY, is devoted to advancing original research and training graduate students in over 30 fields in the humanities, social sciences and sciences.

Performs teaching, research, and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below.  Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as may be assigned.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. is required for this position along with a strong record of publications, a record of extramural funding, and experience teaching/mentoring doctoral students. The tenured appointment will be made at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will begin Fall 2010.

For Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor designations:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent as noted below.  Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

FLSA Status: Exempt
