Position: College Assistant

Support Staff

PVN #:IS-26-09

Closing Date: Open until filled

Department: Payroll Office

Description:

Accountability: Reports directly to the Payroll Director

Responsibilities:

  • Process appointments and other payroll activities into the New York State payroll system
  • Process time cards to produce biweekly paychecks for College Assistants
  • On a biweekly basis update the College Assistants’ time and leave report     
  
  • Reissue prior years W-2’s as needed   
  •   
   
  • Check honoraria payment requests to determine whether they are NYS employees 
  • Type history cards and prepare folders for new hires
  • Process return checks to the Office of the State Comptroller
  • Assist employees with questions regarding payroll issues
  • Place stop payment on checks as needed and process replacement checks                                                                        
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Additional hours of help may be required during peak time, including Saturdays

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school Diploma

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher
  • Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL and Word
  • Flexibility in work schedule

Salary Range: $15.00 per hour

Hours: 20 hours per week
