Position Description

Inaugurated in the Fall of 2001, Macaulay Honors College (MHC) is dedicated to providing outstanding educational opportunities for academically gifted students from the five boroughs of New York City and beyond.  The Honors College program includes generous financial support for students who are designated University Scholars upon admission.  In addition, the Honors College offers students unique interdisciplinary seminars focusing on New York City, access to instructional technology, dedicated mentors and advisors, internships, study abroad experiences, and a Cultural Passport that provides entrée to the vast cultural resources of New York City.  The Honors College operates in consortium on seven CUNY campuses: Baruch College, Brooklyn College, City College, Hunter College, Lehman College, Queens College, and the College of Staten Island.  Currently, Macaulay enrolls approximately 1,200 University Scholars on all seven campuses.

The College Assistant to the Director of Budget and Finance will aid in the preparation, tracking, and filing of invoices, payment requests and purchase requisitions.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • As instructed, examine and assist in processing invoices, vouchers, and bills. Verify documents for accuracy by reviewing supporting data and records; and assist in audit functions
  • Document remittances and payments
  • Perform other related duties, such as producing checks and other financial documents, as required
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets related to the Budget and assist the Director in the preparation of reports
  • Data entry
  • Photocopying
  • File documents and reports in a systematic manner
  • Order office supplies and maintain inventory
  • Respond to all requests and inquiries in a timely manner; adhere to deadlines
  • Assistance with special projects as assigned by the Director of Budget and Finance.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

An associate degree plus one year of full-time bookkeeping/accounting experience; or a comparable combination of experience and education are preferred. The successful candidate for the position of College Assistant to the Director of Budget and Finance will possess excellent organizational, administrative, writing, and computer skills, including knowledge of entire MS Office Suite. Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects at once are required. The position will entail the handling of confidential financial information and will also require an individual with demonstrated tact and maturity.

Salary Range: $14.00/hour - $17.00/hour

Hours:  20 hours per week
