CUNY’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) is the home to the University’s first wholly online degree, the CUNY Online Baccalaureate – helping working New Yorkers complete their undergraduate studies and succeed in their careers. SPS also offers an array of credit and non-credit certificate programs and courses that are designed to meet the needs of working professionals and employers as well as individuals seeking opportunities for personal growth. Housed within CUNY’s Graduate School and University Center, SPS draws on faculty from CUNY’s 19 campuses and the vast pool of experts, in a range of fields, from around New York. SPS promises the highest levels of quality and service to its students and faculty.
SPS is seeking a highly motivated, flexible, self-starter to assist with inquiries and recruitment for the Online Baccalaureate and its other programs during the mornings, afternoons and evenings. These positions are part-time at 20 hours per week.... Week day shifts are from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Admissions & Advisement Coordinator, the Inquiry Specialist will:
- Respond to general inquiries regarding the School of Professional Studies and all of its degree and certificate programs to ensure the highest level of student satisfaction.
- Route calls to the appropriate department and staff.
- Assist with student inquiries, admissions, financial aid, enrollments, and registrations for the CUNY Online Baccalaureate (and other programs within SPS) assuring the highest levels of student satisfaction.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to live chat requests within the CUNY Online Baccalaureate call center in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with entering all call and live chat data into a computerized tracking system.
- Perform frontline reception duties: routine clerical work such as copying, information request fulfillment, filing, completing “ticket requests” and returning calls as needed.
- Collaborate with the CUNY Online Baccalaureate and School of Professional Studies staff as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Some college preferred. At least 1-year of administrative experience is preferable.
- Strong Customer Service orientation and personable nature.
- Strong computers skills and be proficient with the Internet.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills.
- Strong reading and writing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and act as a member of a team.
- Must be energetic, well organized and patient with a blend of technical and analytical skills, initiative, and independence.
- Ability to prioritize, establish and meet goals and milestones, including the ability to make judgment calls and to respond tactfully in all situations.
- Ability to follow up, good with details, ability to deal with many issues concurrently.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office applications and web-enabled communication. Experience in student registration systems a plus (Banner and/or SIMS).
Salary Range:
-$10.00/hour - $12.00/hour (dependent upon experience)
