Overview:

The Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies is a collaboration between the University and New York City labor unions, for the purpose of serving the educational, policy and research needs of unions and their members. The Institute is comprised of two centers.

The mission of the Center for Worker Education is to: offer undergraduate and graduate programs to working adult students and union members, expand access to colleges throughout the CUNY system, and partner with labor unions and employers to address training and education needs of union members.

The Center for Labor, Community and Policy Studies conducts research, offers leadership development programs hosts forums and national conferences, publishes articles books and a national labor journal to promote debate on issues critical to labor’s future and its policy role.

The Coordinator of Offsite Programs will be responsible for carrying out several functions of the Institute’s external programs and admissions services working with all types of organizations including labor unions, union members and the University to identify and serve potential students that will enroll in the Institute’s programs and CUNY, and coordinating all recruitment and enrollment services.

In collaboration with the Associate Director, will coordinate the admissions and student services of the Institute’s programs:

Responsibilities:

• Oversee admissions and recruitment/clerical support staff

• Plan and oversee student recruitment.

• Implement and oversee admissions and retention workshops.

• Coordinate enrollment activities for external programs; track enrollment data.

• Monitor record keeping and tracking to ensure that data on students are up to date.

• Evaluate recruitment, enrollment and admissions services, including activities; prepare reports on outcomes and services.

• Coordinate admissions counseling services.

• Schedule recruitment and enrollment activities

• Serve as liaison between admissions departments, the unions and the Institute.

• Interact with other CUNY units to facilitate student enrollment and transfers to Worker Education program.

• Perform other related duties in student service admissions and counseling.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.

• At least four years experience in higher education administration required.

• At least two years experience in a supervisory position required.

• Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills preferred.

• Experience with adult and/or worker education programs preferred.

• Knowledge of rules, regulations and policies in higher education preferred.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and complex work environment, carry out complex assignments and adapt to changing situations and priorities.

Salary Range:

$38,001 - $53,147 Commensurate with experience and prior salary history
