William E. Macaulay Honors College is a flagship program for high-achieving students at The City University of New York. Located on the Upper West Side, Macaulay offers an exceptional academic and co-curricular environment for engaged and motivated students, who come from all parts of New York and around the world. Macaulay students enroll in one of seven CUNY colleges (Baruch, Brooklyn, City, Hunter, Lehman, Queens, and Staten Island). Through the unique Macaulay Advising Program (MAP) each student develops a coordinated, individualized academic program that includes research, global learning, graduate and professional mentoring, community engagement, and close faculty-student collaboration.

Reporting to the Director of Development, Alumni Relations and Communications, the Development Associate supports all aspects of Macaulay’s fund-raising operations. In conjunction with the Director, the Development Associate is responsible for data management, including gift entry and acknowledgment; grant reporting and major gift stewardship; and research and preparation for meetings with prospects and donors. The Development Associate serves as the primary liaison with the Director of Finance in preparing fundraising reports. He/she will also work closely with Special Events staff and others at Macaulay Honors College in planning and executing development events. The Development Associate will have some supervisory responsibilities managing the Development Office’s support staff.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Manage prospect/donor database using Raiser’s Edge® software.
    • Track and maintain donors’ contributions through multiple campaigns and appeals.
    • Conduct data quality audits.
    • Maintain the integrity of the Raiser’s Edge® database and enforce all Macaulay and CUNY standards, policies and procedures related to the database.
    • Interact and reconcile development records with Macaulay business office and Office of Institutional Research, as well as the CUNY Research Foundation and other CUNY entities.
    • Manage donor component of special events.
    • Develop appeal letters and coordinate mailings through Raiser’s Edge®.
    • Enter data into Raisers Edge and supervise data entry staff.
    • Develop, maintain, and analyze routine and ad-hoc reports, mailing listing and labels, and letters of acknowledgment.
    • Maintain development data management systems and processes.
    • Assist in routine communications with donors and prospects.
    • Assist in other Development and Alumni Relations tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree (graduate experience a strong plus) and four years of relevant work experience (preferably in a fund-raising environment) with working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge® or other prospect management software required. The ideal candidate will also be highly organized, detail-oriented and have outstanding communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. He/she will have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to accuracy and detail, and a demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with appreciation for the importance of complete protection of the privacy of donors and prospects.
