Description

The unique interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Urban Education at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York invites applicants for a tenured-track position in Arts, Humanities and/or Social Science in Urban Education. We seek a candidate of substantial merit, accomplishment, and scholarly reputation. Candidates who are presently advanced assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors are encouraged to apply. The salary of the successful candidate will be competitive and commensurate with scholarly productivity.

Responsibilities:

Teach core and elective courses in the Urban Education doctoral program. Advise doctoral students, direct dissertations, and conduct research in Arts, Humanities and Social Studies, Literacy, Bilingual Education, Social or Cultural Theory.

Qualifications:

We seek an accomplished scholar with a relevant doctoral degree. Applicants with extensive experience in doctoral level education, including a successful record of mentoring doctoral students, are strongly encouraged to apply. The highest priority is given to candidates with a record of exceptional academic achievement in theory, pedagogy, curriculum, and/or teacher education. Expertise in at least one of the following: English Education, Social Studies Education, Art/Aesthetic Education, Literacy, Bilingual Education, Social and Cultural Theory, is required. A proven record of obtaining external funding to support scholarly activities is also desirable.

Salary Range:

  • -Rank and Salary commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments
  • -FLSA Status - Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation
