FAQ

The Liberal Studies Program is a unique interdisciplinary program that offers qualified people the opportunity to study in small seminars alongside doctoral students.

Liberal Studies students choose one of twelve areas of concentration:

  • American Studies
  • Approaches to Modernity
  • Bioethics, Science, and Society
  • Biography,Autobiography, and Memoir (new)
  • Film Studies
  • International Studies

Students take two core courses in a chosen area and then, with the help of the adviser, they select appropriate courses from the offerings of the various doctoral and interdisciplinary programs at the Graduate School. A thesis completes the work for the thirty-credit degree.
