Prospective Students
Transfer Credits:
Students may generally transfer credits for graduate level courses taken elsewhere if they were not counted towards a previous degree, and if they were of a suitable academic nature equivalent to courses they could also have taken here at the CUNY Graduate Center. Usually, no more than 12 credits will be counted for transfer credit, and such credits are awarded only upon application and in consultation with the MALS Executive Officer.
Non-Matriculated Students:
The Graduate Center allows non-enrolled students (non-matriculated students) to take a total of two courses at the Graduate Center. You are welcome to take any of the MALS core courses that interest you (you can check our course offerings on this web site). Please contact the Registrar’s Office first to complete the necessary paperwork and check deadlines to apply. If you are later admitted to the MALS Program, the courses you have taken as a non-matriculated student will count towards the 30 credits that you need for the degree.
