Accomodation
The CUNY Graduate Center is located at 365 Fifth Avenue. It is on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 34th Street, diagonally opposite the Empire State Building. While there are numerous hotels in the immediate vicinity (known as Murray Hill), the Graduate Center is easily accessible by public transportation. Just about every subway line in New York stops somewhere on 34th Street, although the closest subway stops are the 33rd street stop of the #6 (green line) to our east and anything orange or yellow that stops in Herald Square (34th and Broadway) to our west. As such, there is no particular need to stay in the immediate vicinity, and other neighborhoods might be more interesting (particularly in the evening).
As one might expect, accommodation in New York is more rather than less expensive. Any of the following sites are a starting point for finding a hotel.The final one in particular offers academic discounts.
Current students at the Graduate Center use their Student Advantage card to get discounts as well.
