NoPassport and Martin E. Segal Theatre Center present a two-day conference with the support of The Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance, The Internationalists, The Polish Cultural Institute and Theatre Without Borders.

The conference will focus on a wide range of contemporary works for theatre and performance, viewing historical memory, legacy and r/evolutionary art from a variety of formal perspectives. Topics that will be addressed in panels and works-in-progress presentations include: US Latino/a and African- American theatre history and cross-generational paradigms for artistic produc- tion, conflicts and mis-readings of aesthestic diversity vis-a-vis identity poli- tics and post-racial sensibilities, migration and exile as they affect content and form; genocide drama and the representation of sacrifice on stage; the ecolo- gies of theatre criticism in the US; queer dis-identifications in Latino/a theatre; new media, dramaturgy and hybrid performances, and the unfixing of interna- tional theatre. There will also be a book launch for the release of four new vol- umes from NoPassport Press.

Caridad Svich is an award-winning playwright, translator and lyricist. Her adaptation of Allende's The House of the Spirits premieres February 2009 at Repertorio Espanol in NY, and her play Instructions for Breathing premieres at Passage Theatre in NJ. She is alumna playwright of New Dramatists, founder of NoPassport, associate editor of Contemporary Theatre Review (Routledge/UK), and contributing editor of TheatreForum. Randy Gener is a Filipino American working in the fields of theatre, journalism, writing, photography and installation art. He is the award-winning author of the plays "Love Seats for Virginia Woolf" and "What Remains of a Rembrandt Torn into Four Pieces"; the photographer of the floral installation- art piece "In the Garden of One World" (a collaboration with designer and painter Nic Ularu); and is the senior editor of American Theatre magazine.
