Student Handbook
Evaluation of Progress
At the end of each semester, every faculty member who taught during the semester is asked
to submit to the Executive Officer a written evaluation of each student in his/her class.
These are read quite carefully, and are shared with other faculty members in order to
confirm one or another aspect of an evaluation. At the very least, they are always shared
with the faculty advisor in the student's area of concentration.
A negative evaluation will invariably result in a meeting between Executive Officer (or
one of the deputies) and student. The rationale, of course, is that it is better to catch
and correct pitfalls early on than to let them go on one semester after another.
Finally, students should be aware that they have every right to see the evaluations that are
submitted about them. They need only ask to see them (in consultation with the Executive
Officer or one of the deputies).
