The Neuroscience subprogram examines the organization and function of the nervous system, approached from molecular, cellular, systems and behavioral perspectives. Areas of research include molecular genetics of development, neurotransmitters and signal transduction, learning, neuroethology, neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of the visual and somatosensory systems, oculomotor control, pain, neuroendocrine control of reproduction, neuroanatomy of brain disorders, stress-induced hypertension.

Faculty include members of the staff of the Institute for Basic Research in
Developmental Disabilities.

The Neuroscience PhD is a subprogram of the Biology PhD program at the City University of New York Graduate Center.
