Anna Stetsenko |
Anna Stetsenko is Professor and Head of the PhD Program in Developmental Psychology at The Graduate Center CUNY. She is also on the faculty of Urban Education and the Center for the Study of Women and Society. Her research is concerned with developing cultural-historical activity theory (with roots in Vygotsky-Leontiev-Luria works) combining knowledge of its diverse international contexts and interpretations. She focuses on learning and development, development of mind and language, the self, gender, epistemology and history of psychology, re-conceptualizing these topics from the standpoint of activity theory. Her works have been published as books, book chapters and journal articles in English, Russian, Italian and German. Her teaching areas include:Cultural-historical and Sociocultural Approaches to Development; Activity Theory and Social Practice; Development of Self; Psychology of Gender; Language and Thought; Teaching, Learning, and Development; Theories of Developmental Learning; History and Paradigms of Developmental Psychology; Individual Development and Social Transformation.
