Africa Networks NY

Africa Networks NY seeks to serve the needs and interests of the academic, NGO, diplomatic, arts, and business communities of the NY metropolitan area with interests in the history, arts and culture, sciences, politics, and economics of Africa. To this end, African Networks NY facilitates the exchange of ideas and information on Africa by encouraging communication among its members and by disseminating information on speakers and events; member interests, research activities and publications; course offerings and study abroad programs; job listings and grant opportunities.

The Africa Research Group at The CUNY Graduate Center is the organizing committee of the listserv, which is hosted by The Graduate Center’s Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies.

Africa Networks NY, in collaboration with other groups and institutions, also sponsors academic and social events intended to bring together its membership and to increase awareness among them of shared interests. Members are drawn from faculty and students from CUNY, New School, Columbia, NYU, Rutgers, Yale, SUNY, and other colleges and universities, as well as from the NGO, arts, business, and diplomatic communities in the tri-state area. Africa Networks NY is an open list, meaning that anyone may subscribe. The list is moderated, however, and will not be used for the exchange of messages among individual subscribers.
