This course will focus on the neurobiology of language acqusition from infancy through early childhood. Major theories will be exmined in the light of current information about neural development of brain systems that support speech and language acqusition. These systems will includeauditory, motor, prefrontal, and posterior association regions that support speech, hearing, attention and memory, as well as core language functions (e.g., syntax semantics, discourse).
Students eill be expected to integrate information from theory and experimental data to help develop a research proposal.
