Were
you aware of the Grad Center's plan to increase fees by $24 per year
to cover expenses for the Wellness Center? What are your feelings on
this?
Hyewon
Yi,
Art History
Yes – I
received a campus email. Of course, I'm not happy about it. But
it is important since many of us have no health insurance. It
is important to save [the Wellness Center] but students shouldn't
have to pay for it. |
Maggie
Dickinson,
Anthropology
No, I wasn't. I have mixed feelings. It's annoying because
it seems like the welfare of the students should be a higher priority,
especially with the health care crisis in the US. But it's still
an essential service. |
Rave
Harpaz,
Computer Science
Yes, I am. I don't think it's a lot of money and I'm not really
concerned about it. As long as it's for good purposes, $24 is
not that much. |

Sociology
No, I wasn't. But I'm from Canada where we have universal health
care. I don't mind paying into that…but what do we get
[for the increased fee]?
|
Jessica
Hammerman,
History
Yes – I think it's fine, in order to save the Wellness Center.
It's a necessary thing since a lot of students don't have health
insurance. It could be an optional fee, only for those who might
need it. |
Laura
Morris,
Political Science
Yes – I don't
understand why the school doesn't pay for this. Why is it hoisted
off on students? What do we get for our fees – just paper?
We just recently got a printer in Political Science… |
