Supports study for a year at a Belgian University, with an award of $18,000 for one year. In addition to the stipend the foundation will provide health insurance. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and either have a Masters degree or equivalent degree, or be working towards a Ph.D. or equivalent. Preference is given to applicants under the age or 30 with a reading and speaking knowledge of Dutch, French or German. The friends of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum awards one $6,000 grant annually. Eligibility requirements include: New Jersey residency; completion of at least 24 college credits; an academic average equivalent 3.0 or higher; plans for a career that is consistent with the goals of the Arboretum; majoring in horticulture, botany, landscape architecture, or related field. (1) Foreign Policy Studies Predoctoral Fellowship Program. Awards of a limited number of resident felloships for policy-oriented doctoral research in foreign policy. Candidates at any stage of their dissertation research are welcome to apply. Awards will go to scholars whose research will benefit from access to the data, opportunities for interviewing, and consultation with senior staff members. Stipend is of $22,000. The fellows chosen will be expected to pursue their research at the Brookings Institution beginning on or about September 1 through August 31. Candidates must be nominated by a graduate department. Nominations must be received not later than December 15. Nominees must submit their completed applications by February 15 in order to become candidates.
(2) Governance Studies Predoctoral Fellowship Program. These fellowships are designed for doctoral candidates whose dissertation topics are directly related to public policy issues. Predoctoral Research Fellowship candidates must be nominated by the graduate departments of their universities. No individual applications are accepted. Stipend is of $22,000. Career Advancement Scholarships The Career Advancement Scholarship applications is now available for download. The application must be postmarked by April 15. Please visit our website for any updates to the Program. The BPW Foundation created the Career Advancement Scholarship Program to award financial assistance to disadvantaged women who want to further their education. Scholarships are provided to women who wish to advance in their career, or will soon enter or re-enter the workforce. The Foundation has awarded almost $5 million in scholarships, research grants, and loans since 1969. Female applicants must be 25 years of age or older and a U.S. citizen; demonstrate critical need for financial assistance; demonstrate clear career plans; be officially accepted into a program or course of study in an accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands; not be earning a doctoral-level or terminal degree, such as a PhD, MD, DDS, DVM, JD, etc. For applications click here
