Izaak Walton Killam Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded annually at Dalhousie University to recently graduated scholars of superior academic research ability in any discipline. Awards are tenable for two years and include travel costs, a research grant, and a conference travel allowance. Unspecified number of graduate fellowships for candidates who are of Polish descent for graduate studies in any fields, and to Americans of non-Polish descent who are majoring in Polish studies (including the language, literature and culture of Poland) at the graduate level at an American university. Preference is given to students who supply evidence of identifying with the Polish community over those whose only claim is birth or descent. Programs include: exchange programs with Poland; and scholarships and grants to Polish citizens abroad. Deadline for all scholarships is January 15. The commissioning program is for composers, whose application must be sponsored and submitted by an orchestra or chamber group wishing to co-commission the work with the Koussevitzky Foundation. Commissions for symphonic works will range from approximately $20,000 to $30,000 and for chamber groups $12,500 to $17,500. The organization applying for symphonic commissions must provide a one-third matching grant. Contact the Foundation each year for new guidelines and application deadlines.
