The LBI offers several fellowships to assist students of German-Jewish history with their research:
(1) LBI/DAAD Fellowships. Two fellowships that provide financial assistance to students for dissertation research work and to academics for writing a scholarly essay or book. Extensive use of LBI New York resources is to aid research projects on communal and intellectual history of German-speaking Jewry. The fellowship consists of a stipend of $2000. Applicants must be US citizens, and Ph.D. candidates or recent Ph.D's who have received their degrees within the preceding two years.
(2) David Baumgardt Memorial Fellowship. . The fellowship provides financial assistance to scholars whose research projects are connected with the writings of Professor David Baumgardt or his scholarly interests, including Ethics, Wissenschaft des Judentums and the Modern Intellectual History of German-speaking Jewry. The fellowship consists of an award, not exceeding $ 3000.
(3) Fritz Halbers Fellowship. For students enrolled in a Ph.D. program at an accredited institution of higher education. The fellowships provide financial assistance to scholars whose research projects are connected with the culture and history of German-speaking Jewry The fellowship(s) consists of an award, not exceeding $ 3000.
(4) Fred Grubel Fellowship. A paid summer internship program for a graduate student who will participate in work on a specific research topic related to LBI collections, which can include archives, library, photo collection, and art collection. The research project should pertain to the lives of refugees of the 1930s and 1940s in New York. Ph.D. candidates from history, sociology, literature, or Jewish studies programs are eligible. The compensation is $1,500 per month. The deadline for applications is the fall of the year prior to the summer internship.

(1) Library Company of Philadelphia and Historical Society of Pennsylvania Visiting Research Fellowships in Colonial and U.S. History and Culture. The stipend is $1,750. Fellowships are tenable for any one-month period between June 2004 and May 2005. They support advanced, post-doctoral, and dissertation research. The Library Company's newly renovated Cassatt House fellows' residence offers rooms at reasonable rates. Application deadline is March 1.
(2) The Program in Early American Economy and Society at the Library Company of Philadelphia will award a dissertation-level fellowship and an advanced research-level fellowship for September 1, 2004-May 31, 2005. Application Deadline is March 1.
(3) The Barra Foundation International Research Fellowships in American History and Culture. The fellowships support both post-doctoral and dissertation research. The project proposal should demonstrate that the Library Company and the Historical Society have primary sources central to the research topic. The fellowships are tenable for one month at any time from June 2004 to May 2005. The stipend is $2,000, plus an allowance for travel expenses. Deadline is March 1.

Three-year fellowships are awarded to M.D. or Ph.D. graduates of medical schools and graduate schools in biological sciences. No U.S. citizenship required. For more information and applications see their website above.

Residential fellowships are awarded for two-year periods, to applicants who evidence an interest in considering the relationship between Christianity and the academic vocation and in pursuing careers at church-related colleges or universities. Fellows are recruited from the following disciplines: art and art history; creative writing; history; interdisciplinary studies; languages and literatures; music and music history; philosophy; religion; rhetoric; theatre history and theatre arts. Salary is $41,000 for the coming academic year, plus standard benefits and a moving allowance. For appointments in the academic years 2005-2007, an applicant must have received their PhD or equivalent terminal degree no earlier than December 2003 and prior to August 2005.

The Charles A. and Anne Morrow Lindbergh Foundation provides annual grants of up to $10,580 to men and women whose individual initiative and work in a wide spectrum of disciplines furthers the Lindberghs' vision of a balance between the advance of technology and the preservation of the natural/human environment.
Lindbergh Grants are made in the following categories: agriculture; aviation/aerospace; conservation of natural resources; education, the arts, and intercultural communication; exploration; health and waste minimization and management. A Jonathan Lindbergh Brown Grant may be given to a project to support adaptive technology or biomedical research which seeks to redress imbalance between an individual and his or her human environment. The deadline for grant applications is the second Thursday of June in the year preceeding the awarding of funds. .

School invites applications for the Master's Program from students in any academic discipline who have an interest in public policy, analysis, and research leading to a career in public service.
