(1) Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program. The Radcliffe Institute awards stipended fellowships each year to scholars, professionals, writers, and artists from around the world. Radcliffe Institute fellows, whose appointments typically last one year, are chosen during a rigorous selection process. The fellows join together into one scholarly community, sharing their work in the form of public colloquia, exhibits, and concerts.
(2) Radcliffe Exploratory and Advanced Seminars. Intended to convene scholars in all fields for short-term collaborations, Exploratory and Advanced Seminars at the Radcliffe Institute offer resources to Harvard faculty and their colleagues at other universities to develop new ideas.
(3) Clusters. Research clusters at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study use the Radcliffe Fellowship Program to draw together scholars to focus on particular themes. A research cluster might have a longer life than a one-year fellowship, but it always includes a year when the scholars in the cluster are in residence at the Institute together. During the residential year of the clusters, fellowship applicants with similar interests are encouraged to apply and to indicate the way in which their project will contribute to the topic.
(5) Schlesinger Library. The Schlesinger Library offers research grants for those using the library's holdings. Awards are open to graduate students or faculty from any college or university and to independent scholars, except for the Carol K. Pforzheimer Award, which is open to Harvard undergraduates only. (6) Murray Research Center. The Henry A. Murray Research Center provides grant funds for postdoctoral level research drawing on the Murray Center's data resources, and for doctoral dissertations and undergraduate research in relevant topic areas.

These fellowships support scholars, scientists, artists, and writers of exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishment who wish to pursue work in academic and professional fields and in the creative arts. In recognition of Radcliffe's historic contributions to the education of women and to the study of issues related to women, the Radcliffe Institute sustains a commitment to the study of women, gender, and society. Applicants' projects need not focus on gender, however. Women and men from across the United States and throughout the world, including developing countries, are encouraged to apply. Stipends are funded up to $50,000 for one year with additional funds for project expenses. Fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University. Inter-University Consortium on Security and Humanitarian Action (IUCSHA). Established in 2002 with a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Inter-University Consortium on Security and Humanitarian Action (IUCSHA) pursues two primary concerns: to better understand the complexities of humanitarian operations in the context of armed conflicts; and to invest in the next generation of analysts in New York graduate institutions by expanding cooperation and information exchange among such institutions as well as between younger scholars and networks of intergovernmental and non-governmental agencies. Full-fledged members include, The Graduate Center of the City University of New York (Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies, which also serves as the consortium’s secretariat), The New School University (International Center on Migration, Ethnicity, and Citizenship), and New York University (Center on International Cooperation). Columbia University also participates in many of the consortium’s activities, but funds its students directly from other Mellon support.
The primary activity of the IUCSHA is to provide fellowships of up to $10,000 for graduate students and recent PhD’s from the three full-fledged members to facilitate research and policy analysis. In addition, the consortium operates a forum for the presentation of sponsored research by Mellon Fellows. Lastly, the consortium has established an electronic network for generating and disseminating research on security and humanitarian action.

Funded by the New York State Legislature, these Regents Scholarships cover thirty-nine different fields, including doctoral work in psychology. Candidates must meet a New York residency requirement and agree to practice in New York State on completion of the degree. Scholarship holders receive $1,000 to $5,000 for up to four years. Selection of recipients is based on need, minority status, and enrollment in other state sponsored opportunity programs. Deadline: May 3.

RFF offers a variety of professional internships and academic fellowships and internships. Academic programs at RFF promote research and policy analysis in RFF's discipline fields by supporting work at colleges, universities, and other institutions, both in the United States and elsewhere, and by bringing researchers to RFF to contribute to projects underway and to the formulation of new lines of inquiry.
(1) Fellowships in Environmental Regulatory Implementation. For the pursuit of scholarly research that documents the implementation and outcomes of environmental regulations. The objective of the fellowships is to develop a base of scholarship that systematically examines environmental regulations in practice and that can be used to inform regulators, industry, and others on assumptions of environmental laws and policies. Scholars from universities and research organizations and who have a doctorate or equivalent degree are eligible to apply. Fellowships are for one to two years. Fellows receive an annual stipend commensurate with experience.
(2) Joseph L. Fisher Doctoral Dissertation Research. For graduate students in the final year of their dissertation research. It provides support for research on issues related to the environment, natural resources, or energy. RFF’s primary research disciplines are economics and other social sciences. The fellowship will be reduced by the amount of any other financial assistance, which must be disclosed to RFF. Fellowship candidates must have completed the preliminary examinations for the doctorate not later than February 1 prior to the application deadline. The fellowships carry a stipend of $12,000.
(3) RFF Summer Internship Program. RFF offers several paid summer internships for outstanding undergraduate and graduate students. The program is open to both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens, provided the latter have proper work and residency documentation. Internships are available beginning in June and ending in late August for a 10-week assignment. To meet individual needs, some flexibility in the beginning and ending dates is possible. Students earn a stipend ($375 per week for graduate students; $350 per week for undergraduates). Housing assistance is not provided. Each intern selected can expect to work with one or more RFF researchers on a variety of ongoing projects, or assist in the development of entirely new areas of research and policy analysis. RFF's three research divisions are Energy and Natural Resources (ENR), Quality of the Environment (QE), and Risk, Resource, and Environmental Management (RREM).
(4) The Walter O. Spofford, Jr. Memorial Internship. This is a paid internship allowing graduate students with a special interest in Chinese environmental issues to spend time at RFF in Washington, D.C. Stipends vary according to individual circumstances. If necessary, support for travel expenses and visa assistance can be provided.
(5) Gilbert F. White Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Two resident fellowships for each academic year intended for researchers who have a doctorate degree and wish to devote a year to scholarly work in areas related to natural resources, energy, or the environment. Social scientists as well as natural scientists interested in policy-relevant interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Fellows receive an annual stipend based upon their current salary, plus research support, office facilities at RFF, and an allowance of up to $1,000 for moving or living expenses. Fellows are normally in residence at RFF for eleven months.

The Rhodes Scholarships bring outstanding students from many countries around the world to the University of Oxford. applications are sought from talented students without restriction as to their field of academic specialization or career plans although the proposed course of study must be available at Oxford, and the applicant's undergraduate program must provide a sufficient basis for further study in the proposed field. Rhodes Scholars are elected for two years of study at the University of Oxford, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. All educational costs, such as matriculation, tuition, laboratory and certain other fees, are paid. Each Scholar receives in addition a maintenance allowance adequate to meet necessary expenses for term-time and vacations. The Rhodes Trustees cover the necessary costs of travel to and from Oxford, and upon application, may approve additional grants for research purposes or study-related travel.

Currently, three grants of $2,000 each are awarded in spring for the best nominated manuscript in fiction, in nonfiction, and in poetry. Grants are made only for unpublished works by writers who have not yet published a book or whose writing is not regularly appearing in nationally circulated commercial or literary magazines. Writers seeking grants must be nominated by someone in the field--another writer, an agent, an editor or the like. No forms are required. All entry packets must be postmarked by November 30. The program awards fellowships for full-time study or research at the postgraduate level in fields related to economic development. The Program has been restructurated into a master's degree in public policy (M.P.P) at Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University. The M.P.P. program is the institutional recipient of the World Bank's Robert S. McNamara Fellowship Program, which supports M.P.P. students from developing countries. Through this partnership between Princeton University and the World Bank, McNamara Fellows receive a full tuition fellowship, a travel allowance, and a stipend for living expenses. Mid-career professionals from all World Bank borrowing member countries, including former socialist countries, are eligible to apply to the M.P.P. program as McNamara Fellows, so long as they meet the M.P.P. program’s normal eligibility requirements. They should follow the regular application procedures for the M.P.P. program, indicating on their application that they are applying for admission as McNamara Fellows. These scholarships are for study at an accredited college or university and students of all fields are eligible. They are open to all in the United States regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background. While the Fund does not emphasize any particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. The Fund has awarded grants to persons entering a wide range of careers. However, preference will be given to those who can satisfy high scholastic requirements and are considering careers in education. Grants are small (averaging $2,000) Applicants must attend a personal interview at their expense in New Haven, New York City, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC. Completed application forms, together with all transcripts and reference letters, must be delivered or sent to the Fund postmarked no later than February 2 to be considered for the following year. The one-year memorial fellowship established upon the death of Richard J. Roth, a former Senate Press Officer, is intended for students with experience and/or intentions in the fields of communications, journalism, or public relations. Fellows are placed in the Senate Press Office, and receive training activities throughout the year. To be eligible, applicants must be graduating college seniors or full-time graduate students, New York State residents, and must demonstrate accomplished research and communication skills. Graduate students from other states who are enrolled in New York colleges will also be considered. Fellows receive a stipend of $29,500 and some benefits.
