The Taraknath Das Foundation offers scholarships to Indian graduate students to better serve the growing Indian population in the United States and the mutual interests of the United States and India in a changing world. The foundation also supports university lectures on Indian culture and current affairs and awards prizes for outstanding papers on India to encourage a greater understanding of India in the colleges of the United States. National conferences held jointly with Columbia University are supported on such topics as Indian immigrants to the United States, Hinduism in contemporary America, the United States and India, western literary encounters with India, and the Goddess in Indian Art.
Applications are accepted from Indian nationals only, i.e., those holding Indian passports. Applicants also should have completed at least one year of graduate or postgraduate study in the United States. The foundation does not pay travel expenses. The maximum available is $3,500. Deadline for application is August 1.

Terra Foundation for the Arts has been established to support the acquisition, preservation, exhibition, interpretation, research, and scholarship of original works of American art. Through these resources, the foundation aims to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the nation's rich artistic and cultural heritage for the benefit of a diverse audience. The winning applicants will be awarded a stipend to spend a period of training at the Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago. The length and format of each residency will be negotiated between the recipients and the museum, and may include working with docents, teachers, and curators on new programs and exhibitions. Additionally, fellowship recipients will receive a travel stipend to attend the College Art Association's annual conference, where they will present their dissertation and residency work. Funding: $15,000. Each recipient will receive an initial grant of $5,000 for use during the final year of his or her Ph.D. program; a $10,000 stipend to spend a three-month summer residency at the Terra Museum of American Art, Chicago; and a travel stipend to attend College Art Association's annual conference.
