Seminars and SymposiaScience to a Samba Beat Nobel Laureate Roald Hoffmann & Samba New York! Celebrate Carnaval! In 2004 researchers and dancers joined hands in Rio in the name of Carnaval — and popularizing science. A major samba school, Unidos da Tijuca, chose a science theme for Carnaval — "The Dream of Creation and the Creation of the Dream: Art and Science in the Age of the Impossible." Nobel Prize-winning chemist Roald Hoffmann was a consultant and a participant in the festivities. Join us for live music by Samba New York! and an illustrated report from Hoffmann, featuring Brazilian television coverage of the sound and spectacle of Carnaval. Monday, January 31, 6:00 pm Free – reserve your seat by phone Cosponsored by Science & the Arts and the Bildner Center for Western Hemisphere Studies Contact for information: Science & the Arts
