Anthony DePalma has been a correspondent and reporter at The New York Times for almost twenty years. He is the author of The Man Who Invented Fidel: Castro, Cuba and Herbert L. Matthews of The New York Times and was recently part of the special team of reporters that looked into the impact of class divisions on life in the United States for The Times.

Fidel Castro’s deteriorating health and the temporary transfer of power to his brother, Raúl, have raised important questions about the immediate and long-term political situation in Cuba. Cuba specialist Margaret Crahan, professor of history at Hunter College, and Anthony DePalma, an award-winning correspondent and reporter at The New York Times, will analyze these current events in the context of U.S-Cuba relations and offer insights on new policy opportunities they present.
