This seminar fosters public awareness and discussion of the national and transnational significance regarding Latin American and Caribbean populations in the United States. It explores the economic, social, and political weight of these communities, paying particular attention to New York. Three well-known specialists address aspects of the national and international significance of Latin Americans living in the United States. Mario Paredes (Merrill Lynch) will discuss the economic dimension. Guillermo Linares (Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs) will explore the significance of Latin communities in New York. Angelo Falcón (President and Founder of the National Institute for Latino Policy) will probe policy issues, including the demographic dynamics of the Latin communities in the United States.
