Seminars and Symposia El cine político-militante en Argentina This lecture analyzes Argentinean political films from 1958 to 1976. The talk will pay particular attention to Cine Liberación. The trajectory of this group of filmmakers, founded by Fernando Solanas y Octavio Getino in the 1960s, helps to explain a set of problems rooted in that period: principally, the radicalization of political and cultural behavior. At the same time, these directors looked to generate a discussion about documentary and fictional cinema. Prof. Lusnich will analyze the following films which constitute the most influential and representative of the genre: La hora de los hornos (1968), Peron, la revolución justicialista, Peron: Actualización política y doctrinaria para la toma del poder (1971), Los hijos de Fierro (1975). Professor Ana Laura Lusnich holds a Ph.D. in Arts from the University of Buenos Aires. She is a professor at University of Buenos Aires and a member of the National Council of Scientific and Technological Research of Argentina (CONICET), where she heads various research groups. She has been a Visiting Professor at UAM and Carlos III (both in Madrid, Spain). She has written numerous papers on Argentinean and Latin American cinema, edited the book: Civilización y Barbarie en el cine argentino y latinoamericano (2005), and is the author of The drama social-folklórico: el universo rural en el cine argentino (2007).
