Continuing Education and Public Programs: A Learning Partnership

Acting Level I

Come study acting in a creative and positive atmosphere. This class is ideal for those wishing to explore their creative potential through acting, those considering a career in the theater, and those who have simply always wanted to study the craft. As you learn acting, voice, and movement skills, you'll gain a heightened awareness of the body-mind-emotion connection. You'll be able to "live in the moment" and tap into your instincts; improvise; listen and respond spontaneously; and enjoy playing on the stage. Learn how to rehearse and build a character through monologue and scene study, and even perform your own original work. Nonactors and actors of any level are welcome.

Instructor: Carolina McNeely, MFA, professional actress; director; acting instructor; private acting coach.

Joy Of Improv

Join in the fun of doing improvisational comedy in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. No performing experience is necessary--just a willingness to experiment, play, and laugh with others! Group warm up excercises will lead to improvised scenes with two or more players. No student is ever forced to do any exercise or game, but everyone is encouraged to participate.

Instructor: Bob Lamm is a free-lance writer and teacher. He has taught improv at the Graduate Center since 2001, and has also run improv workshops for the HOPE Program, the Jewish Theological Seminary The Door, the NYSTEA Drama Power Conferences, the Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company, Friends in Deed, and many high schools.
