Helpful Guidelines for Proposing Programs

The Program Proposal asks for a Program Description, as well as a description of the individual/s who will be teaching or speaking. Please limit Program Descriptions to 110 words, and the description of person/s teaching or speaking to 25 words.

The Program Description

In your Program Description, you should include a sense of whom your Program is aimed toward. If you are proposing a class in Japanese, for instance, will your class be appropriate for beginners, or should students have a basic understanding of the language? If you are proposing a course on Real Estate, you should mention what kinds of audiences might benefit from your class: brokers, investors, would-be investors, home-owners, first-time buyers, etc.

In addition, you may want to supply a brief list of the kinds of topics you will cover in your Program, and why these topics are important and/or relevant.

Description of Individual/s Teaching or Speaking

For the description of the individual/s who will be teaching or speaking, you should include information relevant to the course you will be teaching. This may include former or present positions held, academic qualifications, books written, films directed, courses taught, certifications held, institutions at which you've previously taught or spoken, etc.

Graphics and Photographs

Please send any graphics or photographs that you would like to be considered as early as possible. We prefer to receive graphics as "tif" or "jpeg" files.

Please feel free to call our office at 212-817-8215 or email us at continuinged@gc.cuny.edu with any questions you might have. We look forward to hearing from you!
