The Institute encourages software development in CUNY by offering forums and seminars for CUNY computer science faculty on topics such as:

• Techniques for writing correct software
• IDE (Integrated Development Environments)
• UML (Universal Modeling Language)
• Proper software development techniques based on the CISDD style manual
• Finding a small software company collaborator
• How to work with a small company

A popular technical forum that was held by the CUNY Computer Science Discipline Council (see below) provides the model for instituting CISDD forums for all interested CUNY faculty. The forums provide a place for CUNY Computer Science faculty from across the system to meet and discuss common interests and software development projects. This dialog helps pinpoint, recruit and encourage new faculty for participation in the Institute's grant opportunity programs.
