The Institute provides three opportunities (fall and spring semesters and during the summer) for CUNY Computer Science and related faculty to respond to a Request For Proposals from the Institute to underwrite software development projects that can lead to patentable or saleable products. These grants, generally, span one or two semesters (or a summer) of work, involve one or at most two CUNY faculty and not more than three graduate or undergraduate students. A single semester or summers grant does not, generally, not exceed $20,000. CISDD also entertains grants that span a fall semester and a summer, if warranted. Grants cannot be renewed, except in unusual circumstances. (We anticipate giving out approximately five of these internal CUNY grants in each of the three funding cycles.)
