More than 250 attended June 16ths performance party
at P.S. 122 celebrating the publication of O Solo Homo: The New Queer Performance,
co-edited by Holly Hughes and David Román (Grove Press), and Acts of Intervention:
AIDS, Gay Culture, and Performance, a critical history of AIDS theatre and performance
written by Román (Indiana University Press).
Hosted by Carmelita Tropicana, whose Chicas 2000 recently completed
an extended run at P.S. 122, the program features O Solo Homo contributors and
queer performance icons such as Tanya Barfield, Kate Bornstein, David Drake, Craig
Hickman, Holly Hughes, Susan Miller, Peggy Shaw, Denise Uyehara, and Bloolips. The evening
was curated by Hughes and Román, both longtime supporters and friends of CLAGS, with all
of the performers donating their labor to benefit CLAGS.
