On April 16, CLAGS and the Center for Literary and Cultural Studies at
Harvard University sponsored Sex in Public: Sexual Speech and the State of the Arts.
Organized and moderated by CLAGS Board Member Ann Pellegrini, the public forum addressed
issues of censorship, citizenship, and the NEA earlier explored at a roundtable of
activists and academics hosted by the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies. Participants
included Nan Hunter (Brooklyn Law School), David Kennedy (Harvard Law School), Abe Rybeck
(The Theater Offensive), and CLAGS Board Member Alisa Solomon (Village Voice and
Baruch College, CUNY).
