ADVANCED STANDING

If you are an entering student, admitted for the fall 2008 semester, and if you want your transcript reviewed before you register during the week of August 20-26, you must submit all your documents to the Program office no later than August 13th.

Please review the list of courses offered under the multidisciplinary program. If you feel that you have covered the same material in your previous graduate work you may request that the Admissions Committee review your graduate transcript(s) (make sure that the doctoral program office has your complete transcript on file) to determine if you may be granted advanced standing credit toward the 60 credit Doctoral Degree. Remember that you are required to pass the three comprehensive examinations!

The maximum credit from previous graduate work is 15 credits.
The transfer credits may be applied toward your degree at anytime during your course of study. Please read the appropriate pages in the Announcement of Courses Booklet, as well as the pages in the Student Handbook explaining Levels and the associated costs. The explanations should help you decide when you want us to report your advanced standing credits to the Registrar at GC.

It is your responsibility to instruct us when you want the credits reported. Remember GC routinely requires that all Level change information reach them by September for the fall semester, and early February for the spring semester. Make sure you know the exact date the change needs to be reported to GC, (see the Announcement of Courses booklet) and then give the Program office seven business days to meet the deadline.

SEPTEMBER 20 is LAST DATE TO MAKE CHANGES IN LEVEL OR RESIDENCY FOR FALL 2008 semester.
