I am a professor in John Jay’s Department of Law, Police Science, and Criminal Justice Administration. I also serve as Director of the college’s master’s degree program in criminal justice and as one of the editors of Criminal Justice Ethics, the publication of John Jay’s Institute for Criminal Justice Ethics.
My research interests are in criminal law and procedure and also in constitutional interpretation. I have published extensively in law reviews on the Fourth Amendment exclusionary rule, police adherence to the rules of search and seizure, and the concept of privacy. Recently, my work has centered on what it means to overrule precedents in constitutional law. I addressed this in my article on constitutional historicism and am currently engaged in further research on the subject. |
