Bio:

Joan Hoffman’s doctorate is in Economics (New School for Social Research) and her field of specialization is sustainable development which necessarily includes the topics of environmental crime and corruption.  Her theoretical work in crime has focused on the structural issues of whether or not society provides people experiencing economic change with legal opportunities to adapt to the changes.  Her work on Watershed collaboration examines the role of legal means of adapting to water quality requirements as a means of preventing environmental violations.  She has published one of the first articles on sustainable development and criminal justice and my current work and book integrate criminal justice issues with the effort to attain environmental goals.
