Dennis Jay Kenney has more than 35 years of experience in varied aspects of criminal justice – as a Florida police officer; a director of research and planning in Savannah, Georgia; a project director for the Police Foundation; a university professor at John Jay College, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and the Western Connecticut State University; and as the Associate Director and Director of Research for the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF). In addition, he is the author or co-author of numerous articles and books; is past editor of the American Journal of Police and current editor of Police Quarterly; and has directed or co-directed at least 22 research and technical assistance projects worth nearly $11.5 million during the past two decades. Most recently, Dr. Kenney’s work has involved complex research and development projects involving the public and police in not only major American cities but Albania, Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Peru, the Republic of Georgia, Ukraine, the Kyrgyz Republic, Panama, Mexico and Yemen. In addition, he has led research on topics as diverse at abortion-related conflict and violence, crime in our schools and the problems of policing diverse societies. Dr. Kenney holds a Ph.D. in criminal justice from Rutgers University. |
