Trained in philosophy (MA 1965, PhD 1968) and theology (BD 1968) in Australia, John Kleinig taught at Macquarie University (1969-1987, to Associate Professor) before coming permanently to CUNY (1986). He was a Fulbright Senior Fellow (1984-85), elected Fellow, Philosophy of Education Society (US), and Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities (FAHA). Since 1987, he has been Director of the Institute for Criminal Justice Ethics, CUNY, and 2004, Inaugural Professor of Policing Ethics, Charles Sturt University, Australia, and Professorial Fellow, Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics, Canberra, Australia. From 1990-1991, he was a Fellow in the Program in Ethics and the Professions, Harvard University, 1997-1998, Rockefeller Fellow, Center for Ethics and Human Values, Princeton University. He is the Editor of Criminal Justice Ethics (since 1987). His research interests are in moral, social, and political philosophy, philosophy of education, bioethics, philosophy of law, professional ethics, and criminal justice ethics. |
