I received a PhD from CUNY in 1978 (Molecular Biology) and a JD from Cardozo Law School in 1996. After graduating from Law School I became interested in Forensic DNA Analysis and worked at John Jay, first as visiting investigator and then as substitute Assistant Professor, to become acquainted with the field. I published more that 40 articles in peer reviewed journals before coming to John Jay College and have 2 research publications since. I also am co-author of a book on the subject and received a $297,000.00 MSEIP award from the Department of Education to establish a molecular Biology track for the Forensic Science Major. My research interests are in the areas of low copy number DNA analysis and mitochondrial DNA sequence heteroplasmy. |
