USING THE STUDENT WEB

Before you start: Make sure that you are connected to the internet and that you have enabled your browser to accept cookies!

1. Go to the Graduate Center Web Site www.gc.cuny.edu.

2. Click "STUDENT WEB" (the small green tab in the lower right hand corner of the screen). This brings you to the Student Web home page.

3. On the Student Web home page, click on the fourth option "LOGIN TO SECURE AREA."

4. You will be prompted for your BANNER ID NUMBER and your BANNER PIN. Your Banner ID is a nine-digit number that begins with 4 or 5 zeros. You can find your Banner ID number on your Graduate Center ID card, registration card, and bill.

Your six-digit Banner PIN number was initially set to your date of birth in the format MMDDYY with no slashes, dashes, or spaces (in other words, if you were born on February 1, 1960, your PIN was set to 020160).

If this is your first time using Student Web and you have successfully entered your PIN and your Banner ID, the next screen you see will read "YOUR PIN HAS EXPIRED. PLEASE CHANGE IT NOW." Do not be alarmed. Using your birth date as your PIN is insecure, so we would like you to change it to something else. You will be prompted to enter your old PIN (your birth date in MMDDYY format) and enter a new PIN twice.

Your new PIN must be six digits. No more, no less. Any combination of numbers and letter is acceptable. When you have entered your new PIN twice, press the 'LOGIN" button.

5. You will now be asked to create and answer a question to which only you know the answer. In the unlikely event that you forget your PIN number in the future, you can click on the "FORGOT PIN?" button. The STudent Web system will ask you the secret question and (should you answer it correctly) allow you to change your PIN.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***

Should you incorrectly enter your PIN number several times in a row, you will get the message that YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DISABLED. If you get this message, you must report to the Office of the Registrar with your Graduate Center Photo ID to reset your account (212-817-7500)

6. Once you have created and answered the secret question you are ready to login and experience convenient, fun, and worry-free access to your student records. Check your grades! Print out a copy of your class schedule! Check your registration for holds! Make sure your current address is correct! See your bill! Find out the status of your financial aid awards!
