This panel brings together specialists to discuss perspectives on abortion and reproductive rights in Latin America. The panel will elaborate on the themes of human rights, population growth, poverty, education and family planning as well as related issues regarding international law. Dr. Barzelatto's presentation will draw from his recent book, El drama del aborto: Buscando un consenso (Bogota, Colombia: Tercer Mundo, 2005). Co-authored with Dr. Aníbal Faúndes (UNICAMP, Brazil), the book was also published in Brazil (O drama do aborto: Em busca de um consenso) and will have an English edition by University of Vanderbilt Press (forthcoming). Copies of this important volume will be available.
