Gustavo Romero, Piano II
Mirta Gómez (Cuba) received her early
piano training from her mother. She continued her musical studies
at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and at the Juilliard
School of Music. Her international recitals and tours during the
1990's include the Grand Theatre de Geneva, Switzerland; Hochschule
fur Musik "Hans Eister" in Berlin, Germany; The Town
Hall and the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City; and most
recently a televised performance at the Conservatorio Nacional
"Lopez Buchardo" in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Satiné,
a work written for Mirta Gómez and Gustavo Romero by Tania
León, premiered December 19, 1999 at the Merkin Concert
Hall, New York.
Gustavo Romero (US/Mexico) has been acclaimed
by critics and audiences alike for his technical brilliance, both
as a recitalist and as an orchestral soloist across the United
States and Europe. He has performed with such leading orchestras
as the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and
Radio France Orchestra, among others. Recently, he has played
in Cape Town, South Africa and La Jolla, California where he has
performed the complete cycle of Chopin's solo works. Mr. Romero's
discography includes Chopin, Turina, Scarlatti and Beethoven.
Mr. Romero, a graduate of The Juilliard School of Music, just
returned from playing with the Moscow Philharmonic in Russia. |

Since its birth at "La Esquina Habanera," in New Jersey,
this ensemble performs weekly "Rumba Sundays" that preserve
the essence of Afro-Cuban rhythms and music while exploring new
themes in the Cuban cultural heritage. The group has performed
at Town Hall, Park Theatre, Atlantic City and on stations HBO
(the "OZ" series), WBAI, WADO and others. |
